I would stand at the end of the aisle and tell my two sons what I needed, and off they would go. Since they didn’t really enjoy coming to the grocery store with me, it became a “let’s see how fast we can get this done together” challenge instead of “kids vs. Mom.” Granted, they didn’t always get exactly what I was asking, but if it was something we had frequently in the house, they were pretty accurate. They were usually pretty proud of their accomplishments and it kept them busy going up each aisle. We even kept track of our “time” at the grocery store, and would try to beat it the next time…although, this sometimes resulted in running in the aisles!
